Redemption And Come Back – Next Fight May 19th 2012

I finally moved back to Newport Beach from South Orange county; this has helped me immensely  due to the fact that everything is close such as Reign training center, strength and conditioning, yoga and spin.  I have been training at Reign training center in  Lake Forest,  California for the past eleven months, I am coming off of a tough draw from Diman Morris which  I had received a lot of criticism because of  my fatigue in the final round, however, unbeknownst to many people is I tore my costal margin prior to the fight while training at  Greg Jackson’s MMA. It was a horrible injury and I should have given myself more time to recover especially coming off surgery for a broken arm. The torn costal margin is where all your ribs meet up. The pain was so intense that I could not breath properly for several months. My training was hindered and had an abridged training camp prior to the August 20th fight with Diman Morris.

There has been a tremendous enhancement in my skill level and I attribute this to training with Mark Munoz for eleven months and training again with Allan Goes.

All the injuries have subsided I was able to get a full training camp for my last march 30 2012 bout with Sal Ferrneti which I was victorious with a rear naked choke at 2:59 in round 1.  I can attribute this win to having some new extremely good training partners such as Mayhem Miller, Lew Polley, Manny Lara, Satoshi Ishii, and Mark Munoz.  These guys are animals on the mat and really push me hard physically and mentally — especially Munoz . Another thing I can attribute this win to is just being persistent and being at Reign for eleven months every day , i have never trained this consistently in my life… I have also hired a new strength and conditioning coach Cory Beasly. I reincorporated former kickboxing coach Sean McCcully into my training regimen.  All of these things has been beneficial and I am confident that  improvement will continue  in all areas of my game.

I have sacrificed my work and lost a lot of money in my mma school and personal training business because I have focused on my mma career and training myself and not other people..  I have definitely sacrificed my social life and dating and going out to focus on my career and winning fights with no distractions. I feel like I’m on a militaristic training  regimen but I love it. All the hard work and persistence has paid off for the Sal Fernetti fight march 30 but I’m  not satisfied and will be fighting again May 19.  I’m looking forward to my next fight May 19.  I feel like that last win was a new beginning for me and feel like i still have never reached my peak or full potential in my mma career due to injuries and distractions …but now is the time and this will be a busy 3 months for me upcoming.

2012: Rise of the Mercenary

CBSA: Where have you been training at and with who?

Nick Moghaddam: Currently training at Reign training center on my mma and wrestling with Mark Munoz, Ryron Gracie, Satoshi Ishii, Krzysztof Soszynki, Brett Copper, Emanuel Newton, Lew Polley, Vince Alaalatoa, Mayhem Miller. My striking game is being sharpened by K1 coach Alexander Palma at Black House in San Diego.

CBSA: What gyms do you plan to travel to?

Nick Moghaddam: I plan to train with tom Watson in the UK, Alistar Oveereem in Holland and I do plan return to Greg Jackson’s MMA in the Spring, but gonna spend some time with Watson and Overeem and the other animals.

CBSA: There has been much speculation that you will be jumping to the UFC soon?

Nick Moghaddam: I am making plans to fight in the UFC in 2012. The other 205lb fighters be ready because if they’re not then I will embarrass the fighters at light heavyweight and end their careers!

CBSA: What opponents do you want to fight in 2012?

I want to fight Alexander Gustafson, kick his ass and expose him. Cyril Diabate and Anthony Perosh are both lucky they have not fought me. The simple fact is I am training harder and more consistent than ever. All I can say is everyone is fucked at the 205lb weight class.
